Tips For Selecting Your "Word" Of The Year

My word for 2022…

I like to come up with a word of the year instead of a pile of New Year Resolutions because it helps me to focus on one thing & it’s simple. Instead of thinking of things I want to "change" in the sense of a resolution, I like to think of 1 word that can become my overall theme for the year.

How do I think of my theme word?

The way I decide on what my word of the year would be, is by reflecting on my previous year and thinking of all the things iv'e gained, and what I could use more of/ less of.

I reflect on my previous year(s) and think of what I might lack.

After doing some self evaluating and reflecting on my previous year, I was able to come up with the word, commit.

I recall myself saying over the last year that I’m going to do xyz… and never really commit to doing it/nor sustaining it. So, I’m choosing to commit to the things I’ve said I wanted to do - which is:

➖Become more active not only in the gym, because I hate the gym and I know this isn't a sustainable goal for me.

➖Commit to focusing more on a healthier lifestyle through my eating habits because I love going out to eat.

➖Take up hobby classes that I’ve been interested in to learn new skills and continue participating in hobbies that I love, such as dance classes.

And I’m going to do just that!

I determine if my word of the year is relevant to me by thinking about whether in my heart I truly know this is something I need in my life opposed to want. And I need to commit.
