I posted a quote on my instagram feed stating, "stop missing out on life experiences just because your friends/family can't go. Leave them and life your life." I didn't expect to receive as much engagement as I have received on this post, but turns out a lot of people felt this message. There were also others who struggle and don't know how to enjoy solo dates. Learning how to enjoy your own company is vital, because it allows you to become comfortable with yourself and not as dependent upon others. Please find below some ideas for self-care and self-dates!

Spa Date

A spa date is the perfect self-care date alone. Not only does it give you the opportunity to deflect and destress, but it helps with body aches and pain, promotes better sleep and overall helps you to feel refreshed once complete. You can split these dates up by going for routine solo spa dates for different segments such as a full body massage and facials.

Restaurant Scouting

If you're a foodie like me, then you may love going out to eat. My favorite things to do is go to brunch and happy hour. What makes this even more fun, is scouting new places to try for food and drinks. As you see local restaurants of interest online, on yelp and IG geotags, save and check out these places later. You can sit at the bar alone, and try out some of their popular dishes!

Be a Tourist for the day

On a nice warm and sunny day, you can easily become a tourist in your city or another area close by. Check out some museums, local shops and grab some lunch while out. You can google popular attractions in your city and make time to visit them. I for sure, have yet to visit all of the popular places in my city, so I know there is ample opportunity to make a fun day out of it.

Plan a Staycation in or near your City

Nothing is more rejuvenating (outside of the spa), than having alone time away from home. Staycations have become popular because it allows you to break away from your normal day to day routine. Find a nice local hotel, stay a night or a weekend, bring your laptop if you plan to do work, books to read, order room service and bring some wine. You can create the vibe that you want, literally. You can even dress up one night and go to the hotel restaurant for dinner and drinks.

Do something you've always wanted to do!

Ask yourself, what's something you've always wanted to do but have never done for some reason? Whether it's to take a yoga class, learning how to plant, attending a pottery class, do a photo shoot just for fun, I challenge you to truly think about your interests and something you think you might like to do. This is the perfect opportunity to go on a solo date to do something that may interest you. Trying different things can help you to identify things you like and things you don't like. It can also help you to develop a new hobby that you may love. I tried hot yoga once, and absolutely hated it. lol I've rented a bike and rode around a lake and have attended dance classes that I absolutely love and continuously do as hobbies.

I challenge YOU to date and love on yourself.

Spend some time with yourself.

Find out what YOU like and don't like.

You only have one life, and you should absolutely create a life that you love!
